Yogi Baba Prem (Tom Beal) is the founder of Universal Yoga Inc. His work integrates Jyotish, yoga, Ayurveda, Sanskrit, and Vedic philosophy within the traditional Hindu and dharmic framework. He is one of the few Westerners to receive the traditional titles of Vedakovid and Veda Visharada through the gurukula system, and holds formal recognition as a Yogacharya and Master Vedic Counselor in the Integral Vedic Counseling tradition. He has accumulated over 4,400 hours of Vedic study. His primary Vedic teacher is Vedacharya Vamadeva Shastri (Dr. David Frawley), who trained him through the American Institute of Vedic Studies. Early yoga training was under Guru Deep at the United Yoga Institute, Albuquerque, and he has also trained in Babaji's Vedic lineage. Dr. Frawley has described him as one of the best-trained and most articulate spokesmen of Hindu Dharma born in the West.
