Jamie Lisa formally studied under Rebecca Gordon, the NYC based resident astrologer for Harper's Bazaar, where she trained in horoscope writing, prediction, and forecasting. She went on to study at Kepler College in Washington, where she received a scholarship recognizing her efforts to bring diverse voices into Western astrology. Her teachers include Carol Tebbs, Chris Brennan on rectification, Dr Omari Martin on elections, Dr Lee Lehman on astrology and politics, and Donna Cunningham on astrological counselling. She draws on her mixed Asian heritage and a cross cultural upbringing shaped by her English educated mother and her father's work as a Chinese doctor, which informs her interest in medical astrology and bridging Eastern and Western approaches to wellbeing. She is currently pursuing postgraduate study in Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health at King's College London. Alexis Astrology also works with a collaborating psychiatrist offering talk therapy and medication management for clients who want that integrated alongside astrology.
