Raymond Merriman holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Michigan State University (1969) and completed post-graduate studies in Psychology at Michigan State University and Oakland University (1969-1971). He received his professional astrology certification from the American Federation of Astrologers (AFA) in 1972 and has studied astrology since 1967. He worked on Wall Street for eight years, serving as Investment Executive at Prudential Securities (1986-87), E.F. Hutton/Shearson Lehman Hutton (1987-1990), and Accounts Vice-President of Retail Commodity Futures at Paine Webber (1990-1994). He incorporated MMA in 1983 in Lansing, Michigan. His quantitative research began with The Gold Book (1982), the first publication showing correlation between planetary cycles and gold price movements. He is the author of a five-volume series The Ultimate Book on Stock Market Timing (1997-2012) and several books on solar return and evolutionary astrology. He founded the Merriman Market Timing Academy (MMTA) in 2013, a two-year training program. He received the Regulus Award for Enhancing Astrology's Image as a Profession at UAC 1995 and the Regulus Lifetime Achievement Award at UAC 2012. He served as president of ISAR (International Society for Astrological Research) in 1994-2000, 2002-2008, and 2015-2017.
