Joseph Crane has been practicing astrology since the late 1980s. He holds a BA in Philosophy from Brandeis University and an MA in Counselling Psychology, with additional training in gestalt therapy and existential psychotherapy. He is the founder of the Astrology Institute (1991), which has certified over 100 graduates through its programs in astrology skills and consulting. He has taught at Kepler College since 2006, with courses covering mythology, ancient astrology, and philosophy. He is NCGR certified (1994). His astrological work spans traditional, Hellenistic, modern, psychological, and spiritual techniques, including horary and electional methods. He has also worked as a neurofeedback clinician and therapist, and served many years in human services roles. He has been a Buddhist practitioner in the Tibetan tradition since 1980 and has applied astrology in addiction recovery counselling contexts. He is the author of four books on traditional astrology, Hellenistic astrology, Dante's Divine Comedy, and biographical approaches to the horoscope.
