Steven Forrest was born in 1949 and grew up near New York City. He graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1971 with a degree in Religion and went on to build a large counseling practice in North Carolina before moving to Borrego Springs in the Southern California desert in 2008. He served for several years on the ISAR Ethics Committee helping create a Code of Ethics for astrological practice and chaired the Kepler College Advisory Council. In 1985 he received the Professional Astrologers Incorporated Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Art and Science of Astrology and in 2018 won the Regulus Award for astrological education. Since 1998 he has taught students through apprenticeship programs across Northern and Southern California North Carolina Italy Switzerland and Australia and has lectured at the Omega Institute the New York Open Center and the Marion Foundation. In December 2020 he launched the Forrest Center for Evolutionary Astrology an online school continuing his teaching work. His books include The Inner Sky Yesterdays Sky The Changing Sky Skymates and the four part Book of Pluto Neptune Fire and Water series among others. He wrote the monthly astrology column for ELLE magazine in the 1980s and has been praised by figures including Sting and Robert Downey Jr for the clarity and insight of his work.
