Wendy Stacey was born in Invercargill, New Zealand, of Maori and English descent, and began formal astrological study in 1987 with the Christchurch School of Astrological Studies, becoming the school's youngest teacher at age 22. She holds a BA in Social Sciences and an MA in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology from Bath Spa University College, completed in 2003 as part of the first cohort, and a Diploma from the London School of Astrology, where she later taught for 14 years. She is a Fellow of the Association of Professional Astrologers International. Since 2007 she has served as Principal of the Mayo School of Astrology, leading its transition to online learning in 2008, and she tutors on the MA Cultural Astronomy and Astrology programme at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David. She served as Chairperson of the Astrological Association from 2002 to 2025 and became its President in 2025. In 2014 she received the UK's Charles Harvey Award for Exceptional Service to Astrology. Her research interests include medical and mundane astrology, particularly the medicalisation of childbirth and changing birth time patterns, and her published research has appeared in MIDIRS Midwifery Digest. She founded the fortnightly online forum The Current Climate in April 2020, which continues to run with over a thousand registered participants.
